Fareed & Annette Ayoub

Fareed and Annette are the founders of KPCL. Fareed was born in Egypt and came to the United States when he was 11 years old. He always wanted to be in radio. He has a memory of his father listening to Christian programming on a short wave radio that was kept hidden in a bookcase in their home in Egypt. Fareed's father was a Christian pastor and imigrated to the United States to escape persecution and further his education at Moody Bible Institute. Fareed began his career in radio when he was still in Highschool. He attended Brown Institute for Broadcast Communications and worked at various secular stations, and then at Christian stations in Illinois. He came to the Navajo reservation in 1984 as director of Communications for Western Indian Ministries in Tse Bonita New Mexico. Annette came to work as a nurse at the IHS hospital in Ft Defiance. Fareed and Annette met and married in 1985. KPCL went on the air in December of 1988. .
